This is not my story, but my mum played this trick on her mum - my grandmother. My gran always bought fundraising lottery tickets, but she would forget to throw them out after the prizes were handed out. Just before April 1, my mum and her sisters wrote a letter that my gran had won a prize - they picked a lottery ticket that was over a year old. She was to present this ticket on April 1 at a certain address. They posted the letter and when my gran got it, she was really excited! On April 1, just before my gran would go to get her prize, my mum and aunts had to tell her that it was an April fools prank...
