First, you need to score a little time on your victims computer. When the vitim is away, open up the MS-DOS prompt. (This only works in Win 9x). in the DOS prompt, which will be set to C:/>WINDOWS type edit system.ini
so it looks like
C:/>WINDOWS edit system.ini
Hit Enter, and look for the line that says "shell="explorer.exe""
Leave the Shell= part intact, but change the "explorer.exe" part. You can get pretty creative here, but one of my favorites is to first put a period or comma, and then Bill Gates Hates You.
So it looks like
shell=". Bill Gates Hates You"
Save and exit the editor. Your victims computer will work fine until they restart it, then, when windows loads, they will get a nasty error message. Using the above example it will say:
Error loading. Bill Gates Hates You. You must reinstall windows.
When they click ok, the computer will shut down.
Mwa ha ha ha
Course, to fix it, just hit F8 upon boot and go into command prompt only, re-edit the system.ini file back to its original shell=explorer.exe, and the computer will be just fine.
